VACANCIES

CORE Changemakers is a student team in which your personal development is central. With over 260 students that went before you, from all different studies and study layers (MBO, HBO and Universities), from different cultures and backgrounds. We believe that we are the place to develop yourself!

We do this by focusing on solving some of the most difficult technical projects, most of them in the sustainable and circular industry. With projects like rebuilding a SPOT (Google robot) into an inspection unit for ProRail, or by building AI systems that can prevent battery fires within industry. We work with partners from all scales, from the big multinationals to the small family companies. And all projects performed by students.

We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated students to join our team! If want to upgrade your skills and looking to make a difference, then this is the perfect opportunity for you. We have a range of vacancies available and we invite you to apply today and join our team!

If you can already do this? Great! If not, no worries, we will help you on your way.

Additionally, designing the company stand for events and being part of the logistics and organisation for events are also within your tasks. There are 2 types of events we deal with: internal events and trade fairs, wherein for the first we organise a reveal event for one of our projects (with over 100 people present). INTERNSHIP Detachability – Loosey-goosey!

32-40 h/week (full-time)

Your tasks within the team

Investigating the detachability of infrastructure components and assets using AI is an intriguing area of research because it can revolutionise how we design, build, and maintain infrastructure. AI can help us identify which components are detachable, how to detach them, and how to ensure their functionality after detachment. This can result in significant economic and environmental benefits, including cost reduction, increased efficiency, and sustainability.

Additionally, understanding the detachability of assets can be crucial in emergency situations, making it an essential aspect of modern engineering and technology.

In this project, we are looking into classifying parts of constructions as detachable or not, coupling it to a database of components using APIs, to create an overall score for how easily the structure can be repaired or taken apart for recycling.

Do you have experience with coding/AI? And do you want to perform an internship on this topic? We will connect you to the right stakeholders and help you create the most impact possible during your internship!

HELIOS Project Manager – Look at it from the sunny side!

16-24 h/week

Your tasks within the team

Within CORE we have some big projects, for instance HELIOS, a project focused on solar panels recycling.  Due to exploitation within the solar panels recycling industry, now a solar panel can only be replaced with a new one, once a proper recycling of the existing panel is ensured. Hence, a lot of solar fields use old inefficient solar panels. The only industrial option for this is to downcycle the panels into sand paper and metal residual. Using the thermal process of CORE, the glass can be recycled into solar glass again. But even more interesting is that some of the panels can be re-used. By testing on location and making sure the panels are still functional, we are able to resell panels back to consumers. This enables poor households to also acquire solar panels and reduce their energy cost.

You will lead a small cluster existing out of engineers that work on the experiments and the engineering of the factory. You are the person in between the team and the required stakeholders. You prepare and host the meetings and work closely together with marketing to further investigate the collaborations to create the most impact with this project.

Hence, a lot of solar fields use old inefficient solar panels. The only industrial option for this is to downcycle the panels into low-quality materials. Using a pyrolysis process, the glass can be recycled into solar glass again. But even more interesting is that some of the panels can be re-used. By testing on location and making sure the panels are still functional, we are able to resell panels back to consumers. This enables poor households to also acquire solar panels and reduce their energy cost.

You will guide the engineers within the team with setting up and performing experiments. Next to this, you help the project manager to perform the basic engineering of the factory.

TEMNOS Software Engineer – Artificial Engineering

8-40 h/week

Your tasks within the team

One of the biggest issues within the current recycling industry are battery fires! Batteries are thrown away into waste streams where they don’t belong. When damaged, they can go up in flames and take the whole factory with them! To prevent this from happening, CORE developed TEMNOS, an AI driven system that can recognize batteries within these waste streams and help remove them. After developing it for one and a half years, we are now rolling it out on the market in the form of our first pilots.

You are one of the engineers within the team. You will work on the software of the projects, and help create prototypes, create synthetic data or help set up the software for the installations. We are looking for engineering or mathematics students that have experience with programming languageslike MATLAB, Python, C++ or others!
